7:02 p.m. - 2005-06-09 Last weekend, we went to MicroCenter and got the last pieces of Darren's frankenstein computer. She's all put together now, and her name is Sasha. Nice and pretty, and Darren put the whole thing together by himself with pieces he bought over the past ...year? A round of applause for Darren, please. Also purchased from MicroCenter (which isn't very micro at all; in fact, the place is huge) was a toy for me - a modest PC tablet with which I can finally begin making and posting my stick figure cartoons again. Yay! I'm still tinkering with it, but just to show you how many different textures and options it gives you, lookit what I made. I ran out of room, so it's just eyes. Kind of like those airbrushed t-shirts that are so corny, now that I think of it. Maybe next I'll draw a unicorn dancing down a rainbow. A couple of days ago, I switched from Netscape 7.2 back to Firefox. <3! I love "shopping" for all those extensions that personalize your Firefox. Today, I received two surprise emails. One was from a friend I made back in Germany, whom I haven't seen since 1990, and with whom I lost touch because I suck at keeping in touch. I googled her a couple of weeks ago and sent an email, and was starting to think she either forgot me or didn't want to keep in contact, but YAAAAAAY, that's so not the case. The other email was from my host brother, letting me know that he's moved to Austria. Another person I've had to Google to keep in touch with because I suck so badly at keeping in touch. People need to put me on their IM lists and buzz me every once in a while. I'm really bad at remembering to keep in touch. I told Darren the other day that he's lucky we got married, because otherwise I would have been bad about keeping in touch with him, too. I had a goofy dream this afternoon: Darren and I went into this abandoned (yet nicely maintained) house that was haunted by some kind of demon who's always thirsty. She was bitchy, and she would try to kill people if she didn't get a drink of water. For some reason, we couldn't find any glasses or cups, and the only vessels that were available to offer water in were those foam bra inserts that you stick in your bra to push the girls up. There were hundreds of those in this house. And they would absorb the water, too, so she had to drink out of them quickly. And she would only use each one once. She was more annoying than anything. She'd stand at the top of the stairs and make threats, and I'd fill up a bra insert with water and she'd either swoop or jump over and snatch it from me and start cackling. At one point, Darren and I were even having sex - or trying to, but she kept interrupting with her damn cackling, and we had to stop and fill up a bunch of the bra inserts with water before she shut up. I woke up terribly annoyed. I met the girl who lives next door last night. She has a cat that's about to have kittens. Cuteness! I'll try to refrain from asking for one. I really will! I'm sure Packet is happy being the only cat in this house. Also last night, the house in back of us caught fire a little bit. There was a big hullabaloo with both the Greenhills and the Forest Park fire trucks all wedged into one little intersection. The house that had the fire is adjacent to my backyard, which means that when they turn on their giant light-up-the-world spotlight on their back porch, it lights up my room. That light is what caught fire - faulty wiring or something, in the wall. They were able to catch it before it got out of the wall, but they were hacking up the back of the house with an axe. I've got overtime this week, so I'll be logging back in and working some more now. Bleah. |
