Duran Duran!
Wow, the Duran Duran concert was great. We met up with our friends before the show, too, so that was great. The opening act was a band called VHS or Beta, and holy cow they sound like a mix between the Cure and Duran Duran.
Highlights from the show:
- Watching Jodi & Elise sneak down to the front rows, then up to the stage
- Wearing jeans (my seat was directly behind a giant pillar, and the only way to sit comfortably was for the giant pillar to be between my legs)
- Simon calling Cincinnati the Porno Capital of the World before "Bedroom Toys"
- Ordinary World
- Dancing with Darren during "Come Undone"
- The guy in the blue shirt during "Wild Boys"
- The guy in the blue shirt during "Girls on Film"
- The guy in the blue shirt during "Rio"
- The anime cartoon-video that showed all the band members (plus a couple of groupies) killing off bad guys, UFOs and Godzilla using their respective instruments (a mic stand, a guitar, cymbals, a bass guitar amp, and...I forget what Nick used)
- Simon asking the audience to turn on their cellphones, lighters, flashlights, etc., during "Save a Prayer"
- When introducing the band, Simon telling the audience to chant Play the fucking bass, John!
- Chanting Play the fucking bass, John!
- John, playing the fucking bassline from "25 or 6 to 4"
