A Lazily-Cobbled Update on the State of Things
I'm really getting to be a slacker with the timely updating of the diaryland stuff. Apologies. It's just that I've been working a lot, and I work on a computer, so when I work a lot I get tired of being at a computer. You understand.
So I inherited this awesome bed last weekend. From what I understand, my mom bought it in a thrift store over 30 years ago. It's a cannonball bed, and it also happens to be the first Real Bed I slept in when I was little. Like, the first non-crib bed. But you gotta see this thing. When I get the ghetto-nightstand problem taken care of, I'll take a picture. Right now, though, I have junk stacked up high enough to be nightstands. See, the bed is tall. I mean, tall. As in, I use the stepstool to get into it. For the first couple of days I was just climbing in, but I was hiking one leg up, then kind of hopping and rolling the rest of the way up. The stool just works better. I am so totally not complaining about the height of the bed. I think it's cool. And as an added bonus, Packet enjoys the view from up there, so she's been helping me sleep lately. Either that, or she sensed that I washed the blankets before transferring them from the old bed, and she's only hanging out on the new bed long enough to refill the cat hair. She also likes that there's extra room under the new bed, too. She can stand up underneath there. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Packet likes the new bed just as much as I do.
Last night I got some groceries, which is always something worth celebrating, because I just never go when I'm supposed to. Except this time I actually picked up a thing that's very small and expensive, which is a gift for someone that might read this diary, so I can't say what it is. Other than to say that I paid for it, but left the store without it.Because I'm a frickin' genius, that's why! The good news is that I called the store and someone turned it in after I left. I can go pick it up tonight. Yay! Shew! The bad news (continued from above) is that I had to pick through the garbage to find the receipt. And it wasn't pretty garbage, either. It was coffee grounds. Bleah.
There's definitely other stuff going on, but none of it seems that important. I started a new birth control method last week. Whee. I've been knitting like a fool, but I don't think I'll be able to knit up enough gifts for all my aunts & uncles. I do have backup gifts, but dang.
Oh, and an Elvis update: She ate last week, and she's been in a food coma since then. It's been over a week, so I need to start bathing her again. I can only imagine how annoying it must be to be plunged into tepid water when you think you're supposed to be hybernating, but I want to make sure her little boo-boos heal properly. She'll probably have a bad shed or two. We're about due for a giant snake poo, too. Snake poo has to be one of the most vile substances on the planet. Ew. Plus, she always makes a poo when she sheds. If she has a bad shed and makes a poo, it's going to be messy. The possibility exists that she could end up looking like a mardi gras float. Hehehee.
