Dream & Serpent Update
I went into a store in Greenhills (not sure where) to go to an ATM. The ATM wasn't a machine, but a woman behind a counter. It was her first week on the job and she kept messing up everyone's orders. I finally got my cash and went home. Darren and I took a road trip to California. He was driving when we got to California, and I realized that people drive very differently there: the innermost lane on each highway is actually for oncoming traffic so that they can pull onto the median and turn around to go the other way. -- We stopped at a house and were let in by the woman and her daughter that live there. After a while, I realized that we had no hotel reservations. I started calling various numbers, hoping that a hotel would answer, but no one did. I finally asked for a phone book. Darren was calling around, too, and said he made a reservation for that night in a place called "The Lab Room". It didn't sound like a hotel I wanted to stay in, but I was tired. I asked the lady of the house what city we were in and she told me it was West County. The reservation Darren made turned out to be in Ohio. Whoever took his call misunderstood "We're from Ohio" for "We want to stay in Ohio" and made the reservation for the wrong state. I was so pissed. We left the house and found a Holiday Inn a block over and across the street. There was water behind it, and it reminded me of the river in Long Sault. There was a line at the front door, so I got in line. I saw snake skins everywhere. Right when I was about to say, "Hey, look! Snake skins!" a very large snake bit my foot. That pissed me off, because it had a leash on it and the owner was laughing. In the owner's other hand was another leash, which was a large dog (like a Mastiff, but gray). The dog jumped up on me and scratched my arm. I glared at the owner and said, "Call the damn dog off before I kick it." The owner said I was overreacting, but I showed her my bleeding arm.
Speaking of animals, Elvis is going to be fine. I took her to the vet, who confirmed that she has some missing teeth, BUT they'll grow back. There was a bruise on the left side of her mouth, and she's got cuts and wounds here and there. I get to clean her up daily, make sure her cage is lined with newspaper, and next week we'll get a smaller hamster and hope she goes for it.The vet said I should stun the hamster before feeding her, which is going to be hard for me to do, but in the interest of protecting Elvis from further harm I guess I can.
