Pointy-haired antics
You know how Dilbert is so funny because you can relate to it while laughing at the misfortune of fictional characters? Do you know how unfunny it is when you realize that your job is actually just like that, and possibly worse?

I'll splain:

I get an email from someone saying that her orders always get delivered by Fuzzy Bunnies. Then, in September, she got a letter from us saying that we're changing her delivery company to Fairy Godmothers. I look at the information we have, and why yes, that's exactly what we told her. Fuzzy Bunnies should now have nothing to do with her account.

Lo and behold! Her assigned carrier still shows up as Fuzzy Bunnies! I double check the information history, and it still says, "Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play with your new delivery company, the Fairy Godmothers, starting in September?"

And so I knew what must be done. I fired off a memo to the department with "Administration" in its name. The Admin department doesn't like getting emails insinuating that something's wrong, because if it is, they have to check to make sure that the same thing didn't happen to 599,999 other people. Usually, to bypass this extra work, they respond in Dilbert fashion, which is exactly what happened today.

I woke up, came to work (down the hall), fired up the work-puter, and started checking on everything that's changed in the 15 1/2 hours that I haven't been working. I find an email, forwarded to me from someone else because the Admin department is like a bunch of (pointy-haired) trolls under a bridge who don't like sunlight...

"This account looks fine."

That's all they said. "Looks fine." Despite the fact that I told them Fuzzy Bunnies are delivering this woman's stuff when it should be handled by Fairy Godmothers, and our company told her this, and we have written evidence of this correspondence, and her account shows that no Fairy Godmothers even have access to her order, it "looks fine."

*sigh*
